Museum Assistant (Student) – Part‑Time

About the role

The City of Belleville is seeking a student‑level Museum Assistant to support daily operations at the Glanmore National Historic Site. This temporary part‑time position offers up to 24 hours per week with a flexible schedule that includes weekends and occasional evenings.

Key responsibilities

• Provide front‑desk reception, greet visitors, register guests and answer telephone inquiries.
• Handle gift‑shop sales, process payments and operate the point‑of‑sale system.
• Assist with opening and closing procedures, light housekeeping and security monitoring.
• Support guided tours, special events, outreach programmes and track attendance data.
• Deliver accurate information to the Museum Manager and follow established policies.

Required profile

• Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from high school, college or university.
• Clear criminal record check and vulnerable sector screening.
• Strong interest in museum studies, history, art history, education or related fields (preferred).
• Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.

Required skills

• Cash handling and point‑of‑sale system experience.
• Current valid First Aid and CPR‑C with AED certification.
• Customer‑service orientation and ability to communicate clearly.
