Mobile Fleet Mechanic (Mining / Underground / CAT)

About the role

A mining company is looking for a Mobile Maintenance Mechanic to join its team in Michigan, USA, through GateSource HR. The role keeps mobile equipment reliable and efficient by inspecting, maintaining and repairing underground mining machinery. The schedule is 7 days on, 7 days off, with work only two weeks a month.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect, lubricate, diagnose, maintain and repair all underground mining machinery
• Diagnose mechanical issues and carry out repairs to prevent equipment failures
• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance to extend equipment life
• Carry out systematic checks, lubrication and part replacements
• Keep detailed records of maintenance, inspections and repairs
• Operate machinery such as overhead cranes, forklifts and boom trucks
• Work independently while maintaining high safety standards

Required profile

• Over 5 years of experience as a heavy equipment mechanic
• Strong mechanical skills and efficient problem solving
• Ability to work independently with a focus on safety

Required skills

• Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems of heavy machinery
• Reading equipment manuals, schematics and technical drawings
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; SAP is preferred
