Mechanical Manufacturing Engineer

About the role

The Mechanical Manufacturing Engineer bridges engineering and operations at AVL Manufacturing’s new Charlotte facility. The role supports large‑scale FAT/EQT product testing and drives improvements in production efficiency and product quality.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret approved design models and drawings to guide mechanical (and basic electrical) assembly on the shop floor.
• Enhance plant assembly efficiency, including fabrication and paint processes.
• Collaborate with lead hands to develop engineering solutions for production issues and design errors.
• Create and implement engineering change requests (ECR) as needed.
• Improve product quality and consistency through refinements in the assembly process.
• Work with electrical and mechanical assembly teams to ensure build accuracy and support project managers on budget and timelines.
• Support root‑cause analysis and develop corrective actions with QA.
• Develop methods, tools, jigs, and other aids to streamline the assembly process.

Required profile

• College diploma in Mechanical/Industrial Engineering Technology or university degree in Mechanical/Industrial Engineering.
• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in mechanical manufacturing or related engineering roles.

Required skills

• Ability to read and interpret mechanical design models and drawings.
• Experience with mechanical and basic electrical assembly processes.
• Knowledge of engineering change request (ECR) procedures.
• Proficiency in root‑cause analysis and corrective‑action development.
• Capability to design and implement tools, jigs, and process‑improvement methods.
