Mechanical Engineer – Pump Systems Design

About the role

HMFT Inc. is looking for a licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) to lead the structural and mechanical design of pump baseplates and pump‑motor skid systems for its Pumps Division. This senior position is responsible for the APEGA Permit to Practice and will ensure all engineering deliverables meet professional standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the structural and mechanical design of pump baseplates, sole plates, and pump‑motor skid assemblies, including load analysis, material selection, fabrication specifications, and sling arrangement.
• Prepare, review, and authenticate engineering calculations, structural analyses, and design documentation in compliance with industry standards.
• Generate detailed manufacturing drawings with GD&T, welding symbols, surface‑finish specifications, and ensure they are fully authenticated.
• Define equipment specifications and contribute to engineering plans for fluid‑handling systems to ensure safe, efficient, and cost‑effective operation.
• Review and approve designs, drawings, and technical documents prepared by engineering associates and drafting staff.

Required profile

• Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in good standing with APEGA.
• Experience serving as a Responsible Member under an APEGA Permit to Practice.
• Ability to develop and maintain a Professional Practice Management Plan (PPMP).
• Willingness to travel occasionally to the United States and meet all related immigration requirements.
• Based in Calgary or Edmonton.
