Mechanical Engineer – Building Systems

About the role

Egis is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to design, assess, and deliver building mechanical systems for projects in Edmonton, Alberta. You will work within multidisciplinary teams on new construction and retrofit projects across healthcare, aviation, commercial, and data centre sectors.

Key responsibilities

• Manage project scope, schedules, and deliverables for mechanical engineering work.
• Perform heating and cooling load calculations and size HVAC ducts, piping, and equipment.
• Prepare design reports, specifications, and construction drawing mark‑ups.
• Conduct building system inspections and condition assessments for mechanical and electrical equipment.
• Review drawings and specifications for compliance with Canadian codes and standards.
• Develop cost estimates for repair, replacement, and lifecycle maintenance.
• Coordinate with architects, engineers, clients, and other stakeholders to ensure integrated design delivery.
• Support field investigations, reserve fund studies, and property assessments.

Required profile

• Post‑secondary degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Canada.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in building mechanical systems engineering.
• Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects.
