Mechanical Designer/Engineer

About the role

The Mechanical Designer/Engineer will develop and improve mechanical designs for electronic controllers, displays, sensors and related devices within Parker's Electronic Controls & Motion Division. The role involves creating detailed 3D and 2D CAD models, analyzing failures, and supporting manufacturing and test teams.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze mechanical design‑related field failures and manufacturing problems to determine root cause and implement corrective actions.
• Produce fully detailed design documentation, including 3D CAD assembly and part models, 2D CAD drawings, artworks, and renderings using PTC Creo and other CAD tools.
• Estimate mechanical design task effort, part costs, and tooling expenses.
• Develop mechanical form/fit/function details for assemblies and components, specifying geometry, dimensions, tolerances, clearances, fastening, sealing, material selection and fabrication processes.
• Perform design optimization, analysis, and simulation of assemblies and parts using ANSYS and other FEA tools (tolerance stack‑up, differential CTE, static/dynamic structural, thermal management, mold flow).
• Plan and oversee mechanical design experiments and informal tests to reduce risk and verify design choices.
• Troubleshoot and resolve design issues arising during product development, testing, and evaluation.
• Review customer requirements and contribute to product specifications for new products.
• Participate in Mechanical Design Review and DFMEA processes and document tasks using designated tools.
• Leverage rapid prototyping technologies and apply Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles to improve manufacturability.
• Work within cost and schedule constraints and assist Manufacturing and Test Engineering as needed.

• Proven experience in mechanical design of electronic products.
• Ability to analyze root causes of field failures and implement corrective actions.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
• Capability to work within defined cost, tooling and schedule constraints.
• Effective collaboration with cross‑functional teams including manufacturing, test engineering and customers.
