Mechanical Designer

About the role

Design Works Engineering is a multi‑discipline engineering firm looking for a Mechanical Designer to join its Edmonton team. The role involves coordinating, verifying, and designing mechanical building systems across residential, commercial and industrial projects.

Key responsibilities

• Provide coordination, verification, and design of mechanical building systems for multi‑family residential, commercial and industrial sectors.
• Design mechanical building systems and prepare calculations, engineering drawings and specifications.
• Work closely with engineers to develop solutions tailored to client needs.
• Ensure compliance with safety protocols and applicable building codes.
• Supervise, monitor, and inspect mechanical installations and construction projects.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in mechanical engineering, design, or technology.
• Minimum five years of experience designing mechanical systems for commercial, institutional, low‑ and high‑rise buildings and multi‑family residential projects.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical building systems design and applicable codes, standards and best practices.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects, priorities and deadlines.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and fluency in English.
