Mechanical Designer – Heavy Equipment Design Engineer

About the role

Wolfe Heavy Equipment is seeking a Mechanical Designer to join its Strathroy, Ontario facility. You will play a key part in designing, researching, and prototyping new heavy‑equipment products for underground infrastructure, renewable energy, water drainage, and oil & gas projects.

Key responsibilities

• Design and optimise heavy‑equipment components and systems using engineering analysis and simulation tools (FEA and CFD).
• Create and update 3D models and technical drawings in SolidWorks.
• Develop new designs, perform design calculations, and improve existing products.
• Collaborate with engineering, fabrication, assembly, and other cross‑functional teams from concept through production.
• Prepare and maintain project documentation, drawings, and design records.
• Work with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to deliver high‑quality solutions.

Required profile

• Post‑secondary degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
• Experience with SolidWorks, SolidWorks PDM, or similar 3D CAD software.
• Knowledge of engineering simulation tools and methodologies, including FEA and CFD.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes such as machining, fabrication, welding, and hydraulic systems.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and organisational abilities.
• Collaborative mindset with effective communication skills.
• Project‑management experience or certification is an asset.
