Mechanical Design Engineer

About the role

Located in Kelowna, British Columbia, Multi-Power Products Ltd. is a leading Canadian manufacturer of exploratory drilling and industrial equipment. With over 40 years of experience, the company delivers high‑quality, custom‑built machinery. We are growing and seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our engineering team.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies for geotechnical, construction, and exploration drilling equipment, from concept to production.
• Create 3D CAD models and 2D drawings using SolidWorks.
• Perform engineering analysis with hand calculations, spreadsheets, and finite element analysis to verify safe and efficient designs.
• Check drawings for design and dimensional correctness before release for production.
• Support and review fellow engineers' drawings, models, BOMs, and calculations.
• Maintain thorough documentation, including calculations, manuals, and specifications.
• Write performance requirements for product development projects.
• Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and reports for mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
• Investigate equipment failures, diagnose issues, and recommend improvements.
• Lead or participate in design teams to ensure project success.

Required profile

• 10+ years of experience designing and manufacturing mobile or heavy equipment.
• Engineering degree from a recognized post‑secondary institution.
• Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation in Canada; registration with EGBC preferred.
• Knowledge of hydraulic and electrical systems is an asset.
• Project management experience is an asset.

Required skills

• SolidWorks CAD software.
• Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and stress analysis.
• Hand calculations and spreadsheet‑based engineering analysis.
• Technical drawing creation and interpretation.
• Mechanical component design and assembly.
