Material Handler (Forklift) - Bolton Pet Plant

About the role

Mars is hiring a Material Handler (Forklift) for its Bolton pet plant. The handler supports site supply chain activities for Operations and Customer Service, covering inbound processes, inventory control, 5S, GMPs, safety, leadership and scheduling decision support. The role is a 12-hour rotating shift.

Key responsibilities

• Handle material movements in support of production, load receiving and returns, and maintain site safety and GMP standards
• Order materials from the offsite warehouse and complete warehouse returns
• Coordinate the safe transfer of materials into and around the site, adhering to allergen storage requirements
• Perform hourly batch code checks and yard checks, and act on palletizer issues by escalating to maintenance when needed
• Reconcile raw and packaging materials, escalate large variances to the Supply Chain Coordinator and support corrective actions
• Maintain accurate SAP documentation and collaborate with other shifts and support staff to keep on-site inventories efficient
• Manage bar muncher and animal feed processes, support raw and pack holds, and help maintain the active trailer pool
• Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives

Required profile

• Minimum secondary school diploma; post-secondary education in a technical field is an asset
• 2-3 years of logistics experience with a good understanding of plant and manufacturing operations
• Certified forklift operator; slip sheet attachment experience is a benefit
• 2-3 years of experience with receiving systems, SAP and Blue Yonder
• Proven ability to optimize processes to meet or exceed product specifications

• A sign-on bonus of up to $3,000 and a target annual bonus of 5% of base pay
