Managing Director, Value Creation Private Markets

About the role

OPTrust is seeking a senior leader to head its Value Creation function within the Private Markets team. Based in Toronto, the Managing Director will help formalise internal strategic value‑creation capabilities and drive growth and operational excellence across a global portfolio of infrastructure, private equity and real‑estate assets.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement a comprehensive value‑creation framework for the private‑markets portfolio.
• Lead cross‑functional initiatives that enhance operational performance and generate incremental returns.
• Collaborate with investment teams to identify and execute co‑investment, fund‑commitment and direct‑investment opportunities.
• Provide strategic guidance to senior leadership on portfolio optimisation and risk management.
• Mentor and develop internal talent to build a high‑performing value‑creation capability.

Required profile

• Extensive senior‑level experience in private‑markets investing, including infrastructure, private equity or real‑estate.
• Proven track record of delivering measurable value‑creation outcomes at a large institutional investor.
• Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment and travel internationally as needed.
