Manager, New Product Risk

About the role

Relay is building a digital banking platform for small‑business owners and needs a senior leader to own risk strategy for new products such as credit and payroll. You will shape the operating model, guide a growing team, and partner with product and engineering to embed controls from day one.

Key responsibilities

• Own the risk strategy and operating model for new products, beginning with credit and payroll.
• Build and manage day‑to‑day risk operations, ensuring timely, consistent, high‑quality decisions as volume scales.
• Lead, coach, and develop the risk team, setting clear expectations and performance metrics.
• Partner with Product, Engineering, Data and Compliance early in development to identify risks and design controls.
• Analyze product, customer and transaction data to uncover emerging risks and optimize risk rules.
• Define and monitor metrics on losses, customer friction, decision quality and operational efficiency.

Required profile

• 4+ years of experience in fraud risk, credit risk, risk strategy, transaction monitoring or risk operations, preferably in fintech, banking or payments.
• 2+ years of experience leading people or complex cross‑functional initiatives.
• Proficient in SQL and able to retrieve and analyze data independently.
• Experience building a new product, risk program or operating model from zero to one.
