Manager, Corporate Communications & Community Relations

About the role
The City of Nanaimo is looking for a seasoned communications professional to lead corporate communications and community relations. Reporting to the Director of Legislative Services and Communications, you will shape how the city informs residents and partners about key issues.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and implement communication programs that keep the community informed.
- Manage communication resources, budgets, and staff.
- Build and maintain relationships with residents, partners, and media.
- Provide strategic advice on communication and engagement for policy and program initiatives.
- Oversee the creation of press releases, newsletters, and digital content.
Required profile
- University degree in Communications, Public Relations or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant communications experience.
- Proven supervisory or management experience.
- Valid Class 5 BC driver’s licence.

- Permanent full‑time position (35 hours per week).
- Competitive salary range of $142,276.91 – $151,358.42 per year.
