Manager, Communications

About the role

The Fruit and Vegetable Growers of Canada (FVGC) is looking for a dynamic, self‑motivated Manager, Communications to lead the association’s external and internal communication efforts. Reporting to the Executive Director, you will shape messaging that supports growers, influences policy, and strengthens the organization’s brand.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute FVGC’s communications strategy, ensuring alignment with advocacy priorities and brand identity.
• Draft, edit, and design newsletters, media releases, op‑eds, reports, and other publications.
• Gather policy updates, statistics, and sector data and translate them into clear, compelling content.
• Maintain and update the FVGC website and digital channels.
• Lead major communications projects such as the Annual Report, AGM communications, advocacy campaigns, and special initiatives.
• Coordinate cross‑functional teams, define project scope, timelines, and deliverables, and ensure timely, high‑quality execution.
• Provide communication advice to staff and leadership on opportunities and approaches.

Required profile

• Excellent written communication, consensus‑building, discretion, tact and professionalism.
• Passion for agriculture policy and the ability to engage growers, industry associations, government representatives and not‑for‑profits.
• Self‑starter with enthusiasm for supporting the fruit and vegetable sector.
• Ability to work independently without direct staff‑management responsibilities.
