Maintenance Person – Community Housing

About the role

The County of Lambton is seeking a reliable Maintenance Person to provide building, property, and grounds upkeep for its community housing portfolio. This full‑time, onsite role involves routine custodial work, repairs, and direct service to rental clients.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain indoor common areas – painting, cleaning lobbies, hallways, washrooms, laundry rooms, lounges, and shops.
• Maintain outdoor spaces – paint parking lot lines, landscaping, lawn care, snow removal and salting.
• Perform building system upkeep – air units, heating, safety systems.
• Execute repairs: electrical hardware, plumbing fixtures, doors, windows, and general wear‑and‑tear.
• Conduct equipment maintenance – mowers, leaf blowers, snow blowers, floor machines, and County trucks.
• Handle move‑out inspections, unit turnovers, and garbage collection areas.
• Carry out annual smoke‑alarm inspections and related documentation.

Required profile

• Experience in building or facilities maintenance, preferably in residential settings.
• Ability to work independently and provide courteous front‑line service to tenants.
• Strong attention to safety procedures, including PPE and lockout/tag‑out.

Required skills

• Electrical repair (receptacles, switches, lights, fuses).
• Plumbing repair (drain clearing, faucet, toilet replacement).
• HVAC and heating system maintenance.
• Painting and general carpentry.
• Landscaping and snow‑removal techniques.
• Operation of maintenance equipment (mowers, snow blowers, leaf blowers, floor machines).
• Lockout/Tagout safety procedures.
