Lower Elementary Guide

About the role

Virgin Island Montessori School is looking for an AMI‑trained Lower Elementary Guide to lead one of two elementary classrooms on our beautiful St. Thomas campus. This role offers the chance to work in a caring community that values growth, relationships, and Montessori principles.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver Montessori‑aligned lessons for lower elementary students.
• Foster a supportive learning environment that respects cultural, ethnic, racial, and neurodiverse differences.
• Build strong relationships with children, parents, and colleagues.
• Observe and assess student progress, providing individualized feedback.
• Maintain classroom organization, multitask effectively, and stay calm under pressure.

Required profile

• Completed or in‑process training at an AMI Training Center.
• Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or a related field (recommended).
• U.S. citizenship or a current U.S. visa.
• Demonstrated grace, patience, strong observational and communication abilities.
• Ability to teach a diverse set of learners and treat everyone with love and respect.
