Long Haul Truck Driver – Refrigerated Tractor‑Trailer

About the role

Rigel Freight Systems Inc. is seeking an experienced long‑haul truck driver to join its team in Winnipeg. You will operate refrigerated tractor‑trailers on cross‑country routes, delivering goods safely while minimizing fuel consumption and emissions.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and adjust routes using GPS and other navigation tools to optimize fuel efficiency.
• Drive as part of a two‑person team or convoy, handling straight and articulated trucks.
• Conduct pre‑trip, en‑route, and post‑trip inspections, including brakes, tires, lights, and cold‑storage equipment.
• Perform emergency roadside repairs, brake adjustments, and preventive maintenance.
• Record cargo details, hours of service, distance travelled, and fuel usage.
• Transport and handle dangerous goods in compliance with regulations.
• Complete required documentation such as bill of lading, driver logbook, and incident reports.

Required profile

• Secondary school graduation (high school diploma).
• 2–3 years of long‑haul trucking experience, preferably with refrigerated equipment.
• Availability for shift, on‑call, and overtime work.
• Professional attitude toward customer service and safety.

Required skills

• Proficiency with GPS navigation systems and on‑board trip recorders.
• Operation of refrigerated tractor‑trailers.
• Handling of dangerous goods according to transport regulations.
• Vehicle inspection and basic mechanical troubleshooting.
