Long Haul Truck Driver

About the role

PRESIDENT TRANSPORT LTD. is seeking a reliable long haul truck driver to transport goods across long distances from Calgary. The role involves operating tractor‑trailer rigs, planning routes, and ensuring safe delivery while minimizing fuel consumption and emissions.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and adjust routes using GPS and computer‑based navigation tools.
• Drive as part of a two‑person team or convoy, including mountain driving.
• Load, unload, and secure cargo, handling items up to 23 kg.
• Perform pre‑trip, en‑route, and post‑trip inspections of vehicle systems, tires, lights, brakes, and cold‑storage equipment.
• Conduct preventive maintenance, brake adjustments, and emergency roadside repairs.
• Record cargo details, hours of service, distance travelled, and fuel consumption.
• Calculate repair costs and order parts when necessary.
• Coach colleagues on new methods and work techniques.

Required profile

• Secondary school graduation (high school diploma).
• 7 months to less than 1 year of relevant driving experience.
• Valid Class 1 (or A) driver’s licence with Air Brakes endorsement.
• Willingness to travel overnight and for extended periods.
• Physical ability to sit for long periods and handle loads up to 23 kg.
• Attention to detail, flexibility, and strong teamwork orientation.
