Long Haul Truck Driver (Flatbed & Refrigerated)

About the role

Brown Eagle Trucking is seeking an experienced long haul truck driver to transport flatbed and refrigerated loads across Canada and internationally. The role involves planning routes, operating GPS equipment, and ensuring cargo safety while adhering to fuel‑efficiency and emission standards.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and adjust routes using GPS and other navigation tools to minimize fuel consumption.
• Operate and drive straight‑or‑articulated trucks, including flatbed, refrigerated, and tractor‑trailer configurations.
• Load, secure, tarp, and unload goods while maintaining cargo safety.
• Perform pre‑trip, en‑route, and post‑trip inspections; oversee vehicle condition, brakes, tires, lights, and cold‑storage equipment.
• Conduct emergency roadside repairs, brake adjustments, and preventive maintenance.
• Record hours of service, distance travelled, fuel consumption, and cargo information.
• Communicate with central dispatch and relay trip details.

Required profile

• Secondary school graduation or equivalent experience.
• 3‑5 years of long‑haul, provincial, territorial, or international driving experience.
• Valid Class 1/A (or Class 1/1F/A) licence with Air Brakes endorsement.
• Ability to handle physically demanding work, including lifting up to 45 kg.
• Willingness to travel cross‑border, overnight, and for extended periods.

Required skills

• Class 1/1F/A licence (semi‑trailer trucks).
• Air Brakes endorsement.
• Proficiency with GPS navigation and on‑board trip recorder systems.
• Experience operating flatbed and refrigerated equipment.
