Logistics Coordinator – Truck Dispatch & Transportation Scheduling

About the role

McGill St Laurent is expanding its North American wood division and seeks a detail‑oriented Logistics Coordinator to manage daily truck dispatch and transportation scheduling. You will ensure seamless inbound and outbound shipments, maintain strong carrier relationships, and provide excellent service to internal teams and customers.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and schedule truck transportation for inbound and outbound wood shipments.
• Source, qualify, and book carriers to meet shipping requirements.
• Negotiate rates and transportation costs with carriers and brokers.
• Monitor shipment status from pickup to delivery and address service issues proactively.
• Maintain regular communication with drivers, carriers, customers, and warehouse personnel.
• Dispatch loads accurately and on schedule, updating internal records.
• Resolve transportation delays, delivery exceptions, and customer concerns promptly.
• Monitor carrier performance and ensure compliance with company policies and safety regulations.
• Assist with freight quoting, capacity planning, and logistics reporting.

Required profile

• College degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business or a related field (preferred).
• 1–2 years of experience in transportation, logistics, dispatch, freight brokerage, or supply chain operations (preferred).
• Strong knowledge of trucking operations, freight terminology, and transportation processes.
• Experience with Transportation Management Systems (TMS), load boards, and logistics software.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Outlook.
• Excellent organizational abilities and capacity to manage multiple shipments simultaneously.
• Bilingual French/English is essential.
