Legal & Regulatory Counsel

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Legal & Regulatory Counsel to join our Legal & Regulatory team in Montréal. The role combines regulatory advocacy, litigation support, and strategic advice for senior leadership across Canadian and selected U.S. initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Advise business units on regulatory proceedings and policy developments in Canada and the United States.
• Support the company’s regulatory advocacy strategy before regulators and governmental bodies.
• Provide legal advice and strategic support on disputes, litigation, investigations, and related risk‑management matters.
• Manage external counsel and oversee litigation and regulatory matters to ensure efficient outcomes.
• Draft, review, and negotiate legal documents, submissions, and correspondence related to regulatory and dispute matters.
• Partner with business leaders and cross‑functional teams to identify legal and regulatory risks and develop practical solutions.
• Provide legal and regulatory guidance to the Senior Leadership Team on commercial, operational, and strategic initiatives.
• Monitor legal and regulatory developments and communicate potential business impacts.

Required profile

• Law degree (LL.B., J.D., or equivalent) and membership in good standing with a Canadian provincial bar.
• 3–5 years of legal experience in a law firm and/or in‑house legal department.
• Experience in regulatory law, litigation, dispute resolution, or administrative law.
• Knowledge of Canadian regulatory frameworks; exposure to U.S. regulatory matters is a plus.
