Legal Counsel – Mergers & Acquisitions

About the role

Saputo Inc., a top‑10 global dairy processor, is looking for a Legal Counsel specializing in Mergers & Acquisitions to join its corporate headquarters in Montreal. Reporting to the Executive Vice President, Legal Affairs, you will work with a dynamic team on all phases of M&A and related financing transactions, gaining exposure to complex cross‑border deals.

Key responsibilities

• Engage across all phases of strategic transactions, supporting corporate development and treasury functions in multiple jurisdictions.
• Support the acquisition strategy and contribute in leadership team meetings.
• Collaborate on legal due‑diligence efforts and coordinate with internal and external teams.
• Prepare and negotiate complex agreements and a range of commercial documentation.
• Participate in transaction implementation and integration processes.
• Handle additional responsibilities or emerging priorities as needed.

Required profile

• 2‑5 years of transactional experience in a national law firm or a large acquisition‑focused organization.
• LL.B., J.D., or equivalent law degree.
• License to practice law in Canada or the United States.
• Excellent analytical skills, strong business instinct, and great attention to detail.
• Pragmatic approach to assessing legal risks and balancing business needs.
• Efficient, proactive, organized, and able to manage multiple sensitive projects under pressure.
• Professional demeanor with high standards of integrity.
