Legal Counsel – Litigation & Regulatory Investigations

About the role

Join the Legal Affairs – National Bank Financial team as a Legal Counsel specializing in litigation and regulatory investigations. You will influence high‑impact matters for the Capital Markets and Wealth Management divisions, applying your expertise in civil and commercial litigation.

Key responsibilities

• Handle complex, strategic litigation and regulatory investigations, particularly in securities law.
• Provide tailored legal advice on a broad range of issues, assessing business needs and developing solutions.
• Collaborate with external counsel to align legal strategies with business objectives.
• Interact with regulatory bodies such as CIRO, AMF, Canadian securities commissions, and the Montreal Exchange.
• Work closely with internal stakeholders across Capital Markets and Wealth Management.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Law with 3‑5 years of civil or commercial litigation experience.
• Member in good standing of the Barreau du Québec or another Canadian bar.
• Experience in a law firm or comparable professional environment.
• Strong knowledge of financial market regulatory frameworks.
• Proven ability to manage complex files and serve sophisticated internal clients.
