Legal Counsel

About the role

Syntax, a leading managed cloud provider, is seeking a Legal Counsel to join its global legal team. Based in Montreal with a remote work arrangement, you will support the company’s enterprise‑level cloud services, strategic partnerships, and in‑house product offerings.

Key responsibilities

• Review, draft and negotiate Master Services Agreements, Statements of Work and related customer contracts.
• Negotiate data privacy and data‑processing agreements and lead discussions with customers’ legal and sales teams.
• Draft and negotiate partnership and referral agreements, support renewals, and manage legal risks for reseller and third‑party arrangements with partners such as AWS, Microsoft, Oracle and CrowdStrike.
• Create and maintain contract templates for internally developed products, ensuring IP protection, acceptable‑use terms and consistent language across offerings.
• Provide general legal support across business units, including vendor agreements, customer termination files, risk assessments and a broad range of commercial and operational matters.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of experience in commercial or technology law.
• Called to the bar and a member in good standing of a Canadian law society.
• Ability to work collaboratively with global legal, sales and product teams.
