Legal Counsel

About the role

Ubisoft's Vantage Studios in Montreal is seeking a Legal Counsel to support three flagship franchises: Assassin's Creed, Rainbow Six, and Far Cry. You will work directly with the Vice President – Legal, providing legal guidance throughout the game development lifecycle and ongoing franchise operations.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the legal partner for creative and business teams from concept to live‑service and new experiences.
• Structure, negotiate and secure a wide range of agreements (services, licenses, distribution, partnerships) in both French and English under international law.
• Provide pragmatic, strategic legal advice in a fast‑paced, fluid environment to support decision‑making.
• Train and empower studio teams on IP, contracts, and risk awareness with a business‑oriented approach.
• Collaborate cross‑functionally with senior stakeholders and contribute to global projects, including travel between Montreal and Paris.
• Assist in managing pre‑litigation matters in coordination with external counsel.
• Monitor legal, regulatory, and technological developments affecting Ubisoft and the video‑game industry.

Required profile

• Strong background in contract law within media, entertainment, technology, or video‑games.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with high‑level stakeholders.
• Autonomous, accountable, proactive, and pragmatic approach to case management.
• Strategic, analytical mindset with strong prioritisation and solution‑orientation.
• Professional fluency in both French and English.
