Legal Counsel – In-house

About the role

As an in‑house Legal Counsel at Vancity, you will work in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment providing strategic legal advice to the credit union and its subsidiaries. You will be supported by senior lawyers who are invested in your professional growth.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with business and operational teams to deliver proactive, solution‑oriented legal guidance.
• Support senior lawyers across a broad range of areas, including procurement contracts (especially IT agreements), marketing and sponsorships, privacy, AI and data, litigation, retail lending, branch operations, and labour and employment matters.
• Research, negotiate, draft, and review member‑facing agreements, third‑party service agreements, and product terms and conditions.
• Advise on legislation, regulations, industry standards, and best practices within the financial services sector.
• Identify and mitigate legal risks proactively and provide clear, timely guidance to decision‑makers.
