Legal Counsel – Commercial Contracts (Bilingual, Canada)

About the role

This position is a high‑impact legal role within a fast‑paced, business‑oriented environment supporting a leading industrial organization at the forefront of energy innovation. Based in Canada, the Legal Counsel will act as a trusted advisor, providing pragmatic, commercially focused guidance on a wide range of contractual and operational matters.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate commercial contracts to align with business objectives and legal standards.
• Advise internal stakeholders on contractual terms, legal risks and strategic implications before client negotiations.
• Support internal approval processes and conduct risk assessments for key commercial agreements.
• Lead or assist in contract negotiations with clients and external partners.
• Provide day‑to‑day legal guidance across various business functions and operational matters.
• Manage relationships with external legal counsel and coordinate external legal support when required.
• Contribute to dispute resolution and support the business in addressing commercial conflicts.
• Improve contract templates, legal tools and internal processes to enhance efficiency and compliance.
• Promote strong governance practices and safeguard the organization’s legal and commercial interests.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in commercial or business law.
• Member in good standing of the Quebec Bar.
• Bilingual fluency in French and English.
• Strong experience in drafting, reviewing and negotiating complex commercial agreements.
• Solid business acumen with a practical, solution‑oriented legal approach.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced, evolving environment.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for advising business stakeholders.
• High level of professionalism, accountability and attention to detail.
