Legal Affairs Co‑op Internship – Fall 2026

About the role

The British Columbia Investment Management Corporation (BCI) is seeking a motivated Legal Affairs Co‑op student for the Fall 2026 term (September‑December). You will join the in‑house Legal Affairs team and support corporate and securities law work related to BCI’s investment portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with contract review of investment agreements for private and public companies.
• Research, summarize, and present legal materials such as governance term sheets, shareholder agreements, and limited partnership agreements.
• Support corporate and commercial law matters, including reviews of commercial agreements.
• Help build and maintain best‑in‑class precedent documents.
• Complete ad‑hoc projects and special assignments as directed by the legal team.

Required profile

• Strong interest in corporate, securities, and M&A law.
• Detail‑oriented, accurate, and conscientious.
• Excellent written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Committed to high ethical standards and eager to learn.
• Active participation in a business‑focused student law club is a plus.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Word.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook.
