Lead Operator

About the role

Tourmaline Oil Corp is seeking an experienced Lead Operator to oversee production facilities in the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin. The role is based in Sylvan Lake, Alberta and involves supervising crews, ensuring optimal well performance, and acting as a relief for the Production Foreman.

Key responsibilities

• Mentor and train team members on operational, technical, financial and safety standards.
• Monitor production data, identify downtime drivers and implement improvements.
• Supervise contract and maintenance crews, providing guidance and performance evaluations.
• Coordinate facility modifications, turnarounds and well‑optimization projects with cross‑functional teams.
• Provide local supervision of projects as directed by the Production Foreman.

Required profile

• High school diploma; post‑secondary technical diploma is an asset.
• Minimum 10 years of oil and gas operating experience.
• Proven leadership, safety record and supervisory experience.
• Ability to work in camp, relocate if necessary and adapt to varying shift schedules.
• Physical ability to perform lifting, ladder climbing and work at heights in seasonal weather conditions.

Required skills

• Strong computer skills with proficiency in field‑based data management systems.
• Hands‑on experience with down‑hole and surface production equipment.
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to integrate and coordinate operational aspects.
