Landscape Architecture Business Development Director

About the role

Alta is seeking a Business Development Director to lead growth initiatives for its Landscape Architecture and Urban Design practice in the Bay Area, Northern California, and the Pacific Northwest. The role combines strategic client outreach with an understanding of sustainable design and active transportation.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and pursue new business opportunities with city and regional government agencies.
• Build and maintain relationships with key public sector stakeholders.
• Develop and submit competitive proposals that showcase Alta’s expertise in sustainable landscape design.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams—including planners, engineers, graphic designers, outreach specialists, and data analysts—to integrate business development insights into project delivery.
• Represent Alta at industry events and public meetings to enhance brand visibility.

Required profile

• Proven experience in business development or sales within the architecture, planning, or related public‑sector markets.
• Strong understanding of sustainable landscape architecture, active transportation, and community‑centered design.
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills with government clients.
• Strategic thinker capable of expanding market share while maintaining high‑quality collaborative standards.
