Laboratory Assistant – Forensic Toxicology

About the role

Dynacare is seeking a Laboratory Assistant to join its Forensic Toxicology team in Edmonton. The role focuses on workplace drug‑testing specimen accessioning, ensuring accurate documentation and proper processing of all samples while adhering to company policies and Ministry of Health guidelines.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and confirm the security of specimen packages.
• Verify chain‑of‑custody forms and record any questionable integrity.
• Apply barcodes to documentation and specimen containers.
• Enter accounts, test codes, and related data into the system.
• Pour specimens into testing containers, aliquot required amounts, and log/store originals in secured refrigeration.
• Dispose of specimens according to established procedures.
• Identify and resolve issues related to forensic processing and retrieve missing information.
• Perform Quality Control checks as required and report SOP violations.
• Prepare for inspections by regulatory bodies and suggest procedural improvements.

Required profile

• Ability to work on‑site in Edmonton, Alberta.
• Commitment to follow Standard Operating Procedures and Ministry of Health guidelines.
• Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
• Capacity to work a rotating day shift (Monday‑Friday, 7:00 am – 5:00 pm).
