Laboratory Assistant (Float) – Part‑Time Contract

About the role

Dynacare is seeking a Laboratory Assistant (float) to join its team on a part‑time, contract basis. You will work in a fast‑paced environment processing blood and other specimens while delivering compassionate customer service to patients across multiple Ontario locations.

Key responsibilities

• Process blood, urine, drug and breath‑alcohol specimens and perform ECG and Holter hookups.
• Enter requisitions and test results accurately for Ministry of Health reporting.
• Collect high‑quality specimens using venipuncture techniques and ensure proper labeling and documentation.
• Sort and prepare specimens for transport to the laboratory following SOPs.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient information and adhere to regulatory quality standards.

Required profile

• Completed secondary school and a Laboratory Assistant training program or equivalent.
• Ability to work day shifts (6:30 am – 5:30 pm) on a flexible schedule, including weekends.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to handle stressful patient interactions with empathy.

Required skills

• Venipuncture techniques.
• ECG operation.
• Holter monitoring.
• Specimen collection (urine, drug, breath‑alcohol).
• Accurate data entry for health‑care requisitions.
