Laboratory Assistant (Float) – Part-Time Contract

About the role

Dynacare is seeking a part‑time Laboratory Assistant (Float) to join its network of labs across the Greater Toronto Area. You will work on day shifts, processing blood and other specimens, entering requisitions and results, and delivering a courteous patient experience.

Key responsibilities

• Process blood samples and other laboratory specimens accurately and timely.
• Enter patient, test, and requisition data into the Ministry of Health system.
• Obtain quality blood samples using venipuncture techniques.
• Sort and steer specimens, perform ECGs, Holter hookups, paternity, urine, drug and breath‑alcohol collections.
• Ensure specimens and documentation meet SOP requirements and are ready for transport.
• Maintain confidentiality of all patient information.
• Contribute to departmental quality metrics, regulatory compliance, and quality indicators.

Required profile

• Completed secondary school.
• Successful completion of a Laboratory Assistant training program.
• Ability to work day shifts (6:30 am – 5:30 pm) across multiple locations.

Required skills

• Venipuncture technique.
• ECG and Holter equipment operation.
• Specimen sorting and handling.
• Accurate data entry for health requisitions.
• Knowledge of SOPs and regulatory requirements.
