Laboratory Assistant – Clinical Specimen Collection

About the role

Dynacare is seeking a Laboratory Assistant to collect high‑quality blood and other specimens from patients while delivering a compassionate experience. You will work as part of a supportive team, ensuring accurate data capture and adherence to quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Obtain quality blood and other specimens from patients using venipuncture and other collection techniques.
• Perform ECGs, Holter hookups, paternity, urine, drug and breath‑alcohol collections as required.
• Sort and label specimens, ensure documentation complies with SOPs, and prepare samples for transport to the laboratory.
• Enter patient and test data accurately for Ministry of Health requisitions.
• Provide courteous, empathetic service to patients, especially in stressful situations.

Required profile

• Secondary school completion and a Laboratory Assistant training program or equivalent medical laboratory education.
• MLPAO/CSMLS certification strongly recommended.
• Ability to work day shifts Monday‑Friday (7 am‑6 pm) and Saturdays (7 am‑4 pm).
• Strong attention to confidentiality and quality‑metric compliance.
