Junior Plant Operator

About the role

Join Veolia North America as a Junior Plant Operator and gain hands‑on experience in an advanced organics processing facility. This entry‑level position provides exposure to plant equipment, process monitoring, and safety practices, with a clear pathway to become a full Plant Operator.

Key responsibilities

• Assist Plant Operators with monitoring and operating processing systems such as pulpers, grit removal, digesters, and dewatering units.
• Support routine operational rounds, equipment checks, and basic troubleshooting.
• Handle material movement using a counterbalance forklift, assist haulage drivers, and operate telehandler when needed.
• Perform sampling, inspections, and collect process data for reporting.
• Gain exposure to SCADA systems and process monitoring tools.
• Assist maintenance staff, record daily instrument readings, and keep work areas clean.
• Perform janitorial duties and conveyor belt clean‑ups as required.

Required profile

• Post‑secondary education or equivalent experience.
• 1–2 years operating a counterbalance forklift in an industrial setting (telehandler experience is a strong asset).
• Valid forklift certification (counterbalance and/or telehandler) is considered an asset.
• 1–2 years experience as a general labourer in a heavy‑industrial environment.
• Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn process systems.
