Junior Mechanical Designer

About the role

DMC Mining Services is seeking a Junior Mechanical Designer to join its Thunder Bay office. You will work on limited‑scope mechanical design projects, applying established engineering methods under the guidance of senior staff. The position offers a hybrid work environment, combining office work with site visits.

Key responsibilities

• Receive on‑the‑job training and support from senior designers and engineers.
• Determine design criteria for minor structures, systems and equipment and prepare specifications.
• Analyse simple engineering problems and produce sketches for drafting.
• Prepare input data for computerized engineering solutions.
• Create and review CAD drawings using AutoCAD Plant 3D and Revit.
• Collaborate with the mechanical team and other disciplines.
• Check complex designs during progress and upon completion.

Required profile

• Technical college graduation or equivalent.
• Up to four years of relevant experience.
• Ability to follow detailed oral and written instructions.
• Strong attention to accuracy and completeness in design documentation.
