Junior IT Technician

About the role

BGC Engineering Inc. is seeking a motivated Junior IT Technician to join its Ottawa IT team. The role offers a blend of onsite and remote support for the company's Eastern Canada offices, serving both English and French speaking staff. This entry‑level position is ideal for candidates eager to develop a solid foundation in IT operations and cybersecurity.

Key responsibilities

• Set up, configure and deploy workstations, laptops and user environments.
• Troubleshoot basic hardware, software and network issues.
• Handle help‑desk tickets, providing timely Tier 1 support.
• Perform initial analysis of cybersecurity alerts and escalate as needed.
• Manage user accounts, apply updates and patch systems.
• Assist with firewall, switch and wireless network administration.
• Provide occasional after‑hours support.
• Travel to the Montreal office monthly and to other sites as required.

Required profile

• 2–4 years of relevant IT experience in small‑to‑medium environments.
• Fluency in English and French (spoken and written).
• Diploma, certificate or post‑secondary education in IT or a related field.
• Strong interest in learning and growing within a collaborative team.
