Junior Front-End and Cloud Developer

About the role

The Computational Psychiatry Lab at UBC is seeking a Junior Front-End and Cloud Developer to support its research initiatives. You will build and maintain modern web interfaces and ensure reliable cloud deployment on AWS, enabling researchers to access tools efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, test, and maintain front‑end features using JavaScript libraries, especially React.
• Connect front‑end components to back‑end services and APIs.
• Implement and maintain AWS cloud services for secure storage, processing, and deployment.
• Collaborate with researchers and trainees to translate project requirements into functional software.
• Ensure web applications are accessible, performant, and user‑friendly.
• Manage version control, documentation, and automated testing.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues to keep research activities running smoothly.
• Support integration of machine‑learning or NLP models into cloud‑hosted applications.

Required profile

• Junior‑level candidate with a degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong interest in research environments and interdisciplinary collaboration.
• Ability to work independently and communicate technical concepts clearly.
