Junior Desktop & System Support Technician

About the role

As a Junior Desktop and System Support Technician you will help maintain the integrity of our server environment, install software upgrades, and provide day‑to‑day support for workstations and servers at a designated facility. You will act as the primary point of contact for IT issues, ensuring timely resolution and adherence to service level agreements.

Key responsibilities

• Perform workstation and server administration, including setup, configuration, and disk‑space planning.
• Execute data backups, recoveries, and manage tape libraries.
• Maintain software and hardware inventories and generate regular reports.
• Purchase and install approved hardware and software, ensuring proper licensing.
• Support specialized systems such as local MRP/ERP, PM, time‑and‑attendance, QA equipment, and door controllers.
• Administer the local phone system, including paging, voicemail, and moves‑adds‑changes.
• Provide on‑site troubleshooting for desktop, network, and peripheral issues.

Required profile

• Post‑secondary education in Computer Science or related field (preferred).
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with team members.
• Willingness to continuously learn and update technical knowledge.

• Windows Desktop operating systems.
• Microsoft Office suite.
• Dell desktop and notebook hardware.
• Basic networking concepts.
• Data communications troubleshooting.
• Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) – asset.
• ITIL and ITSM knowledge – preferred.
