Junior Accountant (Remote, Montreal)

About the role

Small Door is seeking a Junior Accountant to support its Finance/Accounting team. Working remotely from Montreal, you will collaborate with an experienced accountant and controller to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in preparing month‑end financial statements.
• Apply inventory accounting (ASC 330), cost of goods sold, and fixed‑asset accounting.
• Support billing processes and process vendor payments.
• Reconcile vendor statements, resolve invoice discrepancies and maintain vendor master data.
• Respond to vendor inquiries and foster positive supplier relationships.
• Conduct detailed account analysis to identify trends and improvement areas.
• Provide documentation and schedules for external audits.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to allocate expenses correctly.
• Leverage AI tools such as Claude and ChatGPT to improve workflow efficiency.
• Stay up‑to‑date with accounting standards, regulations and best practices.

Required profile

• 1‑2 years of accounting experience, preferably with U.S. GAAP.
• Hands‑on experience in accounts payable, vendor management, inventory and fixed‑asset accounting.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced remote environment.
