Junior Accountant

About the role

Our client, a well‑established real‑estate development company in North York, is looking for a Junior Accountant to join its finance team. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, you will support day‑to‑day accounting activities across a diverse portfolio of development projects.

Key responsibilities

• Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
• Prepare and reconcile monthly bank statements and general‑ledger accounts.
• Record journal entries and assist with month‑end and year‑end close.
• Track and reconcile project costs, loan balances, intercompany accounts and other financial transactions.
• Prepare and file HST returns and support other tax‑related reporting.
• Maintain accurate accounting records in line with Canadian standards and internal policies.
• Support project accounting by monitoring development‑related financial activity and preparing documentation.
• Assist with audit requests and provide required financial documentation.
• Contribute to process improvements and special projects as needed.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related field.
• 1‑3 years of full‑cycle accounting experience.
• Exposure to real‑estate, construction or property accounting is an asset.
• Knowledge of HST filings and Canadian accounting principles.
• Strong analytical ability with exceptional attention to detail.
• Excellent organizational and time‑management skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication.
