Journeyperson HVAC / Plumber Technician

About the role

Black & McDonald is seeking an experienced Service HVAC/Plumber Technician to join its Service Division in North East Saskatchewan. The role involves working on RTU and HVAC systems, reporting to the Service Supervisor, and delivering high‑quality customer service.

Key responsibilities

• Work on RTUs and HVAC systems.
• Inspect system components such as compressors, condensers, evaporators, fan motors, fans, and expansion valves.
• Perform system checks, troubleshooting, and refrigerant recovery.
• Conduct electrical and gas system troubleshooting.
• Maintain daily service logs, refrigerant recovery reports, and other service records.
• Research and resolve complex system problems.
• Complete assigned paperwork and forms.
• Conduct safety inspections, ensure proper use of PPE, and verify compliance with safety regulations.

Required profile

• Previous experience as an HVAC technician.
• HVAC certification.
• Brazing and soldering skills.
• Knowledge of local building codes.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
• Advanced mechanical and diagnostic abilities.
• Capability to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions.
• Physical fitness to lift heavy equipment.
• Clean Class 5 SK driver’s licence.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Professional demeanor with employees, customers, and stakeholders.
• Strong problem‑solving skills.
• Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Outlook and mobile device applications.
