January 2027 Talent Management Co-op

About the role

Elk Valley Resources (EVR), a Canadian steelmaking coal producer operating four mines in the Elk Valley of British Columbia, is offering an 8- or 12-month co-op starting in January 2027 in its Talent Management function. The co-op provides hands-on experience applying academic knowledge to real-world mining operations, with mentorship from experienced specialists.

Key responsibilities

• Support performance management, succession planning, leadership, inclusive workplace and learning programs
• Answer program and process questions from a diverse audience
• Provide reporting functionality for Talent Management programs as required
• Help develop visual and written communication materials for various audiences
• Help track and develop metrics for measuring program effectiveness
• Manage data files on the Talent Management SharePoint site
• Support Talent Management project innovation for key initiatives

Required profile

• Currently pursuing an undergraduate or master's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development or a commerce program with a specialization in HR or a related field
• Motivated self-starter who can prioritize work under pressure, pay close attention to detail, maintain confidentiality and act professionally
• Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills, able to explain complex ideas to multidisciplinary teams
• Prior work experience is an asset

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Working knowledge of SharePoint
• Experience with SuccessFactors, SAP or tools such as Power BI is an asset

• Salary of $4,117-$5,192 CAD per month, depending on the number of academic semesters and prior co-op experience
