Investment Oversight & Research Manager – Local Authorities Pension Plan

About the role

We are seeking a senior manager to lead the Investment Oversight & Research function for the Local Authorities Pension Plan (LAPP) in Edmonton. The role sits at the core of LAPP’s partnership with its investment manager, AIMCo, and provides independent analysis that underpins the plan’s fiduciary responsibilities.

Key responsibilities

• Assess portfolio performance, risk and investment strategy across public and private markets.
• Develop and maintain scorecards and analytical tools that give the Board clear visibility into asset management.
• Provide independent research and due‑diligence across at least two major asset classes.
• Shape and update the Statement of Investment Policies and Procedures.
• Collaborate with AIMCo, other Alberta pension plans and senior leadership to inform provincial investment policy.
• Present findings and recommendations directly to the Corporate Board.

Required profile

• 10+ years of experience in institutional portfolio management, investment research or consulting.
• Deep due‑diligence experience in multiple asset classes.
• Strong understanding of capital markets and pension governance.
• Proven ability to build trust with senior leaders, external managers and peer institutions.
