Intern Architect – Civic Design

About the role

Join Johnston Davidson Architecture’s Vancouver studio as an Intern Architect and help shape civic spaces such as fire halls, city halls, police stations, and community centres. This paid internship offers hands‑on experience across all design and delivery stages while working alongside a collaborative team dedicated to public‑focused architecture.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare architectural drawings and presentation materials.
• Assist with design development and schematic design tasks.
• Research codes, standards, materials, and products.
• Support permit, tender, and construction document preparation.
• Attend site visits and aid construction administration.
• Maintain project files and coordinate documentation.
• Create or update Revit models and drawing sets.
• Collaborate daily with the project team.

Required profile

• Eligible for registration with the AIBC.
• M.Arch or equivalent recognized by AIBC/CACB.
• Minimum one year of office experience.
• Ability to obtain RCMP ERS security clearance (Canadian citizen or permanent resident).
• Legally able to work in Canada and hold a valid driver’s licence.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Revit (preferred).
• Strong Adobe skills: InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop.
• Physical model making.
• Computer rendering and digital visualization.
• Knowledge of the BC Building Code.
