Intermediate Water Resources Engineer

About the role

CBCL is seeking an Intermediate Water Resources Engineer to join its Water Resources & Climate Change department. The role can be based in Halifax, Fredericton, Moncton, or Saint John and focuses on solving water resources and storm‑water management challenges for sustainable, resilient communities.

Key responsibilities

• Support flood studies, hydraulic structure assessments, storm‑water master planning and climate‑change assessments.
• Conduct 1D, dual‑drainage and 1D‑2D hydrologic and hydraulic modeling for urban infrastructure and floodplain mapping.
• Develop storm‑water management strategies to mitigate flooding and enhance climate resilience.
• Prepare project deliverables such as models, calculations and cost opinions.
• Manage projects or oversee technical teams to keep work on schedule and budget.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and mentor junior engineers.

Required profile

• Undergraduate degree in Civil, Water Resources, Environmental or Coastal Engineering (or equivalent experience).
• 5+ years of experience in water resources or storm‑water management.
• Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Canada.
• Desire to develop project‑management and client‑relationship skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling tools such as PCSWMM and HEC‑RAS.
