Intermediate Mechanical Engineer

About the role

As an Intermediate Mechanical Engineer you will turn ideas into production‑ready designs, develop mechanical products, build and evaluate prototypes, and support testing from concept through manufacturing.

Key responsibilities

• Take ownership of mechanical design assignments for products, components and assemblies, creating 3D models, assemblies and production drawings using SolidWorks or similar CAD tools.
• Apply GD&T and design‑for‑manufacturing principles to develop practical, production‑ready designs.
• Build and evaluate prototypes, support verification and validation testing, and recommend design improvements based on results.
• Coordinate onsite and long‑term testing activities, document results and communicate technical findings.
• Troubleshoot design and product issues, investigate root causes and propose solutions.
• Partner with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality and Supply Chain to resolve design and production issues and support product transition.
• Participate in design reviews and provide day‑to‑day technical support to junior team members.

Required profile

• Hands‑on approach to mechanical design with strong problem‑solving abilities.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology.
• 5–7 years of experience in mechanical design, product development or engineering technology.
• Eligibility for professional engineering or technologist designation in Manitoba.
• Attention to detail and commitment to accurate documentation.

Required skills

• Proficiency with SolidWorks or comparable CAD software (3D modelling, assemblies, simulation, production drawings).
• Working knowledge of GD&T, engineering drawings and design‑for‑manufacturing principles.
• Experience building and evaluating prototypes and supporting mechanical testing, verification and validation.
• Familiarity with vibration, load or optics analysis (asset).
