About the role
The National Research Council (NRC) is seeking an Intellectual Property Advisor to join its Client Agreements and Intellectual Property Branch. The successful candidate will help protect and manage the organization’s innovations by developing IP strategies and handling patent filings.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and implement IP protection strategies aligned with NRC’s research and innovation goals.
- Prepare, file, and prosecute provisional and formal patent applications, including Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) filings.
- Manage the lifecycle of NRC’s intellectual property portfolio.
- Provide guidance on IP matters to internal stakeholders and external partners.
- Collaborate with the Leader, IP Management and other team members to ensure compliance with NRC policies.
Required profile
- Demonstrated integrity, excellence, respect and creativity in professional conduct.
- Strong understanding of intellectual property law and patent processes.
- Ability to work in a hybrid environment with occasional on‑site requirements.
- Willingness to support NRC’s equity and inclusion initiatives.
