Instructor – Specialized Topics in Law: Class Actions

About the role

The Faculty of Law at McGill University seeks an experienced legal professional to teach the Fall 2026 course "Specialized Topics in Law 8 – Class Actions." The instructor will lead a comparative, practice‑oriented class focused on class action litigation in Québec, other Canadian provinces, the United States, and additional jurisdictions.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver lectures, seminars, and workshops on class action law.
• Guide students in drafting pleadings, analyzing case law, and preparing arguments for class‑action authorizations.
• Facilitate active classroom participation and oversee student presentations.
• Coordinate guest experts and integrate their insights into the curriculum.
• Assess student performance through assignments, exams, and practical exercises.

Required profile

• At minimum, a first degree in law (LL.B. or J.D.).
• Several years of significant practice in class‑action or related litigation.
• Demonstrated experience teaching undergraduate law students in a bilingual (English/French) environment.
