Indigenous Student Development Coordinator

About the role

The Indigenous Student Development Coordinator plans, coordinates, and evaluates a range of events and programs that support Indigenous student development at the UBC Okanagan campus. Working closely with the Indigenous Programs and Services (IPS) team, students, university stakeholders, and external Indigenous communities, the role enhances the visibility and impact of culturally relevant programming.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, plan, and manage Indigenous‑focused programs and events that promote student success, cultural identity, and community building.
• Collaborate with IPS colleagues, university faculties, and external Indigenous organizations to align initiatives with student and community needs.
• Oversee event and program budgets, ensuring financial accountability and compliance with funding guidelines.
• Create metrics to assess program success, conduct evaluations, and recommend improvements.
• Identify service gaps and propose new engagement opportunities for Indigenous students.
• Compile and analyze data, preparing reports to support decision‑making and continuous improvement.
• Provide consultation on event planning, logistics, and accommodations for Indigenous participants.

Required profile

• Demonstrated ability to work independently while aligning with IPS objectives.
• Experience in project and event management within an educational or community‑focused setting.
• Strong collaboration skills with internal stakeholders and external Indigenous partners.
• Excellent communication and cultural competency when engaging with Indigenous communities.
